Sample of Funeral Leave E-mail


A funeral leave is taken when a close one dies and you have to attend his/her funeral. If you are working in an organization, you have to inform your boss or the Human Resource department regarding any leave that you take. Therefore, there can be several different reasons for taking a leave; and a funeral of someone you know can be a major reason for that. For instance, if your uncle recently passed away, you can simply write to your workplace regarding the matter and explain to them that you will not be able to attend work due to the fact that you will be attending a funeral.

Since we are currently living in an advanced era, letters are now considered to be outdated. E-mails are the new trend through which the offices and workplaces keep you informed and remain informed as well. Moreover, it is a quicker way of communicating and it is far easier to save data in this format as well. So, while writing an e-mail, make sure that you keep a professional and formal tone since you will be writing to a senior person. Moreover, be concise and simply write about the problems and don’t get into too much detail. In case you want to cover up for the days you missed, you can inform your boss and he/she will reply back regarding your problem.

Dear Sir,

I am writing this e-mail to inform you that my uncle passed away today and I have to attend his funeral. It will be impossible for me to come to work while being busy at the funeral. Therefore, grant me a leave for one day. Since I will not be able to come to work, it is requested that you allow me to work on the weekend in order to meet my monthly targets.
