Sample of Letter for Paternity Leave

In the past only women would get maternity leaves during the time they were pregnant but these days the Human Resource Policies have changed. Even the men get paternity leaves in order to assist their wives or children at home. Therefore, whenever your wife is expecting a baby, you can always ask for paternity leaves and most organizations allow them.

Simply write down the dates during which you will be unavailable. Maintain a professional tone since you will be writing to a senior employee. Mention the reason for the leave and write whether you are going to be able to work from home or not. Mention your contact details so they can get in touch with you whenever it is necessary.

Dear Mr Michelson,

After the conversation we had during the faculty meeting which took place last week, I am writing this letter to you today in order to formally request you for a paternity leave of 4 weeks. The expected delivery of my son is January 12, 2014 and during this time I need to take the days off. My holidays will start from January 11, 2014.

Currently I am taking my classes in the university and the students have already covered their course. The semester is going to end in two days time and I do not believe that I will have to come to the university in order to attend the meetings which are held after the exams. I have already requested the exam cell to inform me once the exams are fully available for checking. I will personally come to the university and take them home in order to check them before the result date, which is January 22, 2014.

Moreover, if the management wants to get in touch with me in order to inform me about anything, they can always contact me through my personal phone number 234-987994-09 or they can always e-mail me on mark.anderson@mailme.com

I will be grateful to you for letting me work from home during these trying times.

Awaiting a positive response,

Mark Anderson
