Leave Letter After Taking Leave

No matter how professional we are in our lives, there are times when we suffer from such instances in which the circumstances are not under our control; it could either be because we are sick or there is a family emergency. In such cases it is hard for any individual to submit a leave application beforehand. You never know when an emergency knocks at your doorsteps and you have to take the day off and it is not necessary that you have given your workplace a prior notice of your absence. In such cases, you must write a leave letter in such a way that you can explain to your employer about the reason why you were absent on a certain day and how they need to mark it as an informed leave.

Once you return to work, you must take the issue to the employer yourself, before they call you up for an explanation. Simply write them a letter which is professional and courteous and covers everything up that your employer needs to know. Make sure that the tone throughout the letter is formal.

There are several formats for writing such letters. You just have to make sure that your tone remains formal so that your employer does not think you are trying to pressurize them. Moreover, you must also try to write such letters as soon as you make your way back to work. In case you are late, then there is a high possibility that the employer might not listen to your plea and you are marked absent with your leave not considered.

Subject: Leave letter for absence on the 20th of September.

Dear Sir,

This is to inform you that I, Jurgen Klopp, picked up a back injury while I was on my way to work on 20th September and the pain was too much for me to handle and I had to take the day off. It was impossible for me to inform you beforehand about this particular problem so I am writing this letter to let you know that I experienced an emergency on that day. Please consider this letter as a request to mark my leave on the aforementioned date.

Thanking you in advance,

Yours sincerely,
Jugren Klopp,
